Good to see autodesk are moving with the times and understand that carrying out the BIM process is not just about one peice of software (Revit)... Really usefull collection for an affordable price.

Autodesk’s design and creation suites are no longer available for purchase from the Autodesk website.

Instead, they have been replaced with new Industry Collections Packages which aim to offer more functionality, in terms of more BIM Software for a comparable price to the old Building Design Suite.

            Three collections are available:

            • Media & Entertainment Collection
            • Product Design Collection
            • Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection

The Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection comprises a number of essential BIM tools into one package for building and civil infrastructure organisations.

The collection of tools enables the full BIM Process from design through to operation in one affordable package.

This collection includes these BIM authoring and CAD tools:

            • Revit
            • AutoCAD Civil 3D
            • InfraWorks 360
            • AutoCAD

But also includes a wide range of supporting BIM tools such as:

This wide range of tools means that both designers and contractors can collaborate on the BIM process through each stage of the project lifecycle.

Also, the wide range of innovative analysis, reality capture , and rendering technologies will allow designers and contractors to effectively critique and demonstrate their designs to clients before they get to site.

Also, tools like Navisworks will enable construction professionals to visually explore project constructability, to help manage costs and better predict project outcomes.

            Pricing

This package comes as a subscription and starts at £285/month.

Although the yearly subscription can be purchased for £2,285/year

It is not until you compare this price to the price of individual design software that you realise its value:

            • Individual subscription for Revit = £1,700/year
            • Individual subscription for Autocad = £1,575/year

Meaning that if you purchased these two software packages alone you would pay £990 more per year that the industry collection.

This really outlines the value of this package, especially as we continue to design and construct buildings using the BIM process.

The monthly subscription package allows the users to keep up to date with new and evolving software in the industry.

Technology and software are moving such a pace that it simply does not seem feasible to stick to any one package for a long time, buying the monthly/ yearly packages can be a great way to jump to new software when it arrives.
